From the 2nd to the 24th of August 2013 we will travel along the North Sea coast from the Netherlands to Belgium and France for a mobile networking and research project around the situation of migrants at the closed British border. In the different places, we will meet up with migrants and local people working on issues of migration and borders. We will begin at the No Border camp in Rotterdam from (2nd -10th of August) and then continue onto Ghent, Brugge/Zeebrugge, Oostende, Dunkerque and Calais.
We want to establish an overview of the actual situation at the border in order to make migrants’ voices accessible to a larger public. The project aims to bring many people together and will enable an exchange about possibilities and actions to change the inhuman conditions that migrants face and that restrict all our lives. The aims of Voices from the Borders are network, raise awareness, research. Our ethos centres around the self-representation of migrants and a multiplicity of voices.
Feel free to join the process! Bring in your ideas and experiences how to make visible this unsustainable/intolerable situation.
